Day 27: Pioneer Woman

I first heard of Ree Drummond, the Pioneer Woman when a thoughtful friend brought a meal over after I'd had #2. She mentioned it was a PW recipe and shortly after I started following her blog/website. http://thepioneerwoman.com/

She posts so much more than just (just? they are fantastic) recipes. There are lifestyle posts, home and garden posts, and lots of giveaways. Which I've never won, cough cough,

She has over a million followers on Facebook, and so I'm sure many more on her website, but she seems so friendly and down-to-earth that sometimes I forget we're not real life friends. Because I get crazy attached to bloggers, I guess.

At any rate, I dig her work and have enjoyed most of the recipes of hers I've tried, which is more than a few. Last night, even though it was Wednesday, I made her Sunday night stew with mashed potatoes and it was delightful.

The kid who hates everything hated it, the other kid graciously cleaned his plate, though I'm not sure he loved it. The baby threw it on the floor as he does every meal. And my husband raved about it! So we'll be making it again for sure.

I like that, mostly, her recipes use real food and "regular" ingredients that I actually have. She's not super fancy, because she feeds her large ranch family, and she's not afraid to use convenience food when it's appropriate. She's great and I'm so glad Crystal introduced me to her.

Day 149: Date with Mom

Mom and I slipped away yesterday afternoon for a trip to town. We had a relaxing couple of hours away from all the chaos at the lake. We shopped, drove around town chatting, I visited the sacrament of reconciliation, and we picked up my favorite small-town pizza joint pizza for supper. I love my hometown so much, but don't spend much time there anymore now that my parents live at the lake. I enjoyed cruising around town catching up on the changes and updates. Mom caught me up on local news, and I accidentally bought a dress, two shirts and a travel mug. That type of thing happens when I hang with my mom, but that's OK!  It was a wonderful afternoon and I'm grateful for our little escape.

Day 183: Friday

I totally blame falling behind in ye olde gratitude posts on the busy holiday weekend. Friday. Friday...I barely remember Friday. I know I cleaned and packed up for the weekend and we had two showings scheduled.  I mostly enjoyed my 250-mile drive alone. I finished up C.S. Lewis's Till We Have Faces  in Audible. I'm still liking Audible even though it's expensive. C.S. Lewis is always good, and his books are worthy of my gratitude.  Oh and we got an acceptable offer on the house. Boom!

I Am A Blogger: CWBN 2017 Recap

The last weekend in March I had the great pleasure of attending a real life blogging conference! Like a real blogger! Cathedral of St. Paul Jacqui ,  Anna  and  Susanna  hosted the Catholic Women's Blogging Network Twin Cities get together at a stunning Summit Avenue mansion in St. Paul. Thirty-some wonderful Catholic women from the Twin Cities, the Midwest, and even Maryland joined up to talk blogging and really just to support each other and build each other up. My friend Monica encouraged me to go, and I signed up on a bit of a whim, figuring that if I paid for registration I'd be more inclined to go. If I didn't have a mutual friend link to one of the organizers, and if a couple of my most favoritest bloggers hadn't been speakers, I'd probably have chickened out.  In response to my evident nerves on the way, my husband wisely mused, "Well, if you're going to walk into a group of people you don't know, this is probably the best group yo...
