Day 35: I am not a preschool teacher

With the big boys only being a year and a half apart, we sometimes treat them like twins as far as exposing them to things. Our new "thing" is games, specifically Memory and Go Fish. I have loads of fun watching them figure out new things and joyfully winning a legit game. I like spelling with them and helping them with letters and sounds. We color for a million hours a day.

But I am not a preschool teacher. The Lord knew to clearly call me away from ever being in charge of 15 4-and-5-year olds. That does not mean, however, that I can't moonlight now and again!

Two other moms and I volunteered in #1's preschool classroom today so his teachers could go to a luncheon. We retrieved them from lunch, did story time, made Valentine bags, and got them dressed for recess. In an hour. They were well behaved, adorable, and I had such fun seeing #1 in his own environment.

But, whoa. I cannot imagine being in charge of that all day every day. It makes my job as a stay-at-home mom of three under six seem like a cakewalk. Even with the maniac one-year-old. I can't imagine whar rowdy or naughty class wild be like!

If nothing else, my little visit to preschool today made me even more grateful for what those lovely women do day in and day out. God bless 'em!

Day 149: Date with Mom

Mom and I slipped away yesterday afternoon for a trip to town. We had a relaxing couple of hours away from all the chaos at the lake. We shopped, drove around town chatting, I visited the sacrament of reconciliation, and we picked up my favorite small-town pizza joint pizza for supper. I love my hometown so much, but don't spend much time there anymore now that my parents live at the lake. I enjoyed cruising around town catching up on the changes and updates. Mom caught me up on local news, and I accidentally bought a dress, two shirts and a travel mug. That type of thing happens when I hang with my mom, but that's OK!  It was a wonderful afternoon and I'm grateful for our little escape.

Day 183: Friday

I totally blame falling behind in ye olde gratitude posts on the busy holiday weekend. Friday. Friday...I barely remember Friday. I know I cleaned and packed up for the weekend and we had two showings scheduled.  I mostly enjoyed my 250-mile drive alone. I finished up C.S. Lewis's Till We Have Faces  in Audible. I'm still liking Audible even though it's expensive. C.S. Lewis is always good, and his books are worthy of my gratitude.  Oh and we got an acceptable offer on the house. Boom!

I Am A Blogger: CWBN 2017 Recap

The last weekend in March I had the great pleasure of attending a real life blogging conference! Like a real blogger! Cathedral of St. Paul Jacqui ,  Anna  and  Susanna  hosted the Catholic Women's Blogging Network Twin Cities get together at a stunning Summit Avenue mansion in St. Paul. Thirty-some wonderful Catholic women from the Twin Cities, the Midwest, and even Maryland joined up to talk blogging and really just to support each other and build each other up. My friend Monica encouraged me to go, and I signed up on a bit of a whim, figuring that if I paid for registration I'd be more inclined to go. If I didn't have a mutual friend link to one of the organizers, and if a couple of my most favoritest bloggers hadn't been speakers, I'd probably have chickened out.  In response to my evident nerves on the way, my husband wisely mused, "Well, if you're going to walk into a group of people you don't know, this is probably the best group yo...
