Day 301: Happy Bullets

  • The kids are playing legos and singing their own medley of Jame Taylor's "Mexico" and "Shower the People" and it makes my heart swell.
  • We went to school Mass today and I remembered, as I do weekly, how one of the things I like so much about a small, Catholic school is the way the big and little kids are integrated. The fifth and sixth graders sit mixed in with the kindergartners and first graders for Mass, probably to keep them from getting too wiggly and out of control. I enjoyed seeing a big (kind of punkish-looking) kid helping a kindergartner tie his shoe, and an older girl sharing her music book with a little one and helping her follow along.
  • I found a Christmas gift for my sister today and I'm so excited about it. I'd love to share a link but she occasionally pops on to ye olde blog, so I can't. Yet. Gifts are my love language and I'm thrilled about this one.
  • I have a love/hate relationship with the Internet, namely social media. But I found said gift from an Etsy shop I discovered via following one of my favorite bloggers on Instagram. And so, Internet wins again.
  • I feel good about myself because I have three Christmas gifts purchased now. I never used to plan ahead and would always scramble in December. Last year I tried shopping ahead of time and I had a goal to do half of my shopping either locally or at a small business (like through Etsy). I did a decent job of it and I hope to do that again this year.

Day 149: Date with Mom

Mom and I slipped away yesterday afternoon for a trip to town. We had a relaxing couple of hours away from all the chaos at the lake. We shopped, drove around town chatting, I visited the sacrament of reconciliation, and we picked up my favorite small-town pizza joint pizza for supper. I love my hometown so much, but don't spend much time there anymore now that my parents live at the lake. I enjoyed cruising around town catching up on the changes and updates. Mom caught me up on local news, and I accidentally bought a dress, two shirts and a travel mug. That type of thing happens when I hang with my mom, but that's OK!  It was a wonderful afternoon and I'm grateful for our little escape.

Day 183: Friday

I totally blame falling behind in ye olde gratitude posts on the busy holiday weekend. Friday. Friday...I barely remember Friday. I know I cleaned and packed up for the weekend and we had two showings scheduled.  I mostly enjoyed my 250-mile drive alone. I finished up C.S. Lewis's Till We Have Faces  in Audible. I'm still liking Audible even though it's expensive. C.S. Lewis is always good, and his books are worthy of my gratitude.  Oh and we got an acceptable offer on the house. Boom!

I Am A Blogger: CWBN 2017 Recap

The last weekend in March I had the great pleasure of attending a real life blogging conference! Like a real blogger! Cathedral of St. Paul Jacqui ,  Anna  and  Susanna  hosted the Catholic Women's Blogging Network Twin Cities get together at a stunning Summit Avenue mansion in St. Paul. Thirty-some wonderful Catholic women from the Twin Cities, the Midwest, and even Maryland joined up to talk blogging and really just to support each other and build each other up. My friend Monica encouraged me to go, and I signed up on a bit of a whim, figuring that if I paid for registration I'd be more inclined to go. If I didn't have a mutual friend link to one of the organizers, and if a couple of my most favoritest bloggers hadn't been speakers, I'd probably have chickened out.  In response to my evident nerves on the way, my husband wisely mused, "Well, if you're going to walk into a group of people you don't know, this is probably the best group yo...
