Day 117: All the Wee Babes

Today I got to meet two (2!) new babies! Luke was born April 15 and Corbyn was born April 22 and the are both so precious I could hardly stand it. I don't know how someone can see a newborn baby and not know with certainty that there is a God and that he loves us. A whole person, wrapped up beautifully in a 6-or-8-pound frame. Truly amazing.

I so enjoyed seeing their leeeeeettle newborn movements and hearing the squeeeeeaky newborn sounds. They are both such precious little darlings. They also made my "baby" look like the monster that he is. I'm so grateful for new life and for the moms who let everyone gush over their little ones.

On an unrelated note, I wanted to zone out and listen to a podcast today while I was making and cleaning up supper; nothing too heavy, just something to entertain me while I worked. So I picked The Simple Show - Episode 26: Neighbor's Table with Sarah Harmeyer. I loved it. The concept of bringing people together face-to-face for real, simple community appeals so much to so many people. Their discussion really made me want to make sure I get to know my neighbors and perhaps step outside of my safe, introverted comfort zone a little.

Day 149: Date with Mom

Mom and I slipped away yesterday afternoon for a trip to town. We had a relaxing couple of hours away from all the chaos at the lake. We shopped, drove around town chatting, I visited the sacrament of reconciliation, and we picked up my favorite small-town pizza joint pizza for supper. I love my hometown so much, but don't spend much time there anymore now that my parents live at the lake. I enjoyed cruising around town catching up on the changes and updates. Mom caught me up on local news, and I accidentally bought a dress, two shirts and a travel mug. That type of thing happens when I hang with my mom, but that's OK!  It was a wonderful afternoon and I'm grateful for our little escape.

Day 183: Friday

I totally blame falling behind in ye olde gratitude posts on the busy holiday weekend. Friday. Friday...I barely remember Friday. I know I cleaned and packed up for the weekend and we had two showings scheduled.  I mostly enjoyed my 250-mile drive alone. I finished up C.S. Lewis's Till We Have Faces  in Audible. I'm still liking Audible even though it's expensive. C.S. Lewis is always good, and his books are worthy of my gratitude.  Oh and we got an acceptable offer on the house. Boom!

I Am A Blogger: CWBN 2017 Recap

The last weekend in March I had the great pleasure of attending a real life blogging conference! Like a real blogger! Cathedral of St. Paul Jacqui ,  Anna  and  Susanna  hosted the Catholic Women's Blogging Network Twin Cities get together at a stunning Summit Avenue mansion in St. Paul. Thirty-some wonderful Catholic women from the Twin Cities, the Midwest, and even Maryland joined up to talk blogging and really just to support each other and build each other up. My friend Monica encouraged me to go, and I signed up on a bit of a whim, figuring that if I paid for registration I'd be more inclined to go. If I didn't have a mutual friend link to one of the organizers, and if a couple of my most favoritest bloggers hadn't been speakers, I'd probably have chickened out.  In response to my evident nerves on the way, my husband wisely mused, "Well, if you're going to walk into a group of people you don't know, this is probably the best group yo...
